Our last blog post was an introduction to using Natural Stone in Interior Design, the differing types of stones, and the varying qualities they hold. In this blog post we want to show you five ways in which you can introduce natural stone into your home, and how these can make a positive impact on your everyday life whilst adding value to your home.
#1 Natural Stone in Interior Design: The Fireplace
An Exquisite statement Marble Fireplace, making a focal point to the room
Having a fireplace alone feels like a luxury, whether it be fully functioning or merely a characterful focal point. As we build new homes a fireplace is no longer at the forefront of the practical design process and so they are sought after and becoming ever more elaborate during restoration projects.
A natural stone is an ideal choice, stone will not warp, discolour or become excessively hot from a fire. Stones also retain heat and therefore radiate the heat into your home for longer, so an energy saving material.
For a lower budget or earthy, country feel we recommend a timeless Limestone. For something statement and luxurious a precious Marble or Onyx. From the hearth to the surround to the overmantel, the options for customisation and individuality are endless.
#2 Natural Stone in Interior Design: The Kitchen
A practical Granite Countertop surface in a Luxury Kitchen Design
From experience, one of the most confusing decisions a home-owner has to make is what material they should use for their Kitchen counter-tops. The choices are endless, the information available is both confusing and plentiful. Our previous blog post helps to answer some of those questions to suit your needs both economically, practically and aesthetically.
Regardless of your choice a natural stone worktop is an investment piece and will create a stunning backdrop to a focal point in your home.
#3 Natural Stone Floors in Interior Design
Timeless Botticino Fiorito Marble floor and Polished Plaster Walls
One of the first things we do when realising a new project is to establish the hard finishes. The hard finishes are the very core of a design aesthetic, the set the tone for the whole project, hard finishes need to be installed first and should stand the test of time.
Flooring comprises of one of these first finishes to pin down and we love nothing more than the clean, timeless aesthetic of a marble floor. Contemporary without being cold, marble floor can add a refreshing, exquisite feeling.
#4 Natural Stone in Interior Design of Bathrooms
A Masculine Ensuite; Calacatta Oro Marble compliments Gold Brassware
For a truly luxurious approach to interior design, we love to clad the walls and floors of the bathrooms with marble. These spaces are special sanctuaries only our clients will get to enjoy in solitude. A place to truly emulate a feeling of grandeur with such special finishes.
We love to make intimate ensuites a thoughtful and authentic representation of our clients. In this Masculine ‘His Ensuite’ we used a stunning Calacatta Oro Marble set against bespoke Walnut Cabinetry, the gold Lefroy Brookes brassware, inbuilt shower television and traditional window dressings really made this Ensuite sing luxury.
